Pictures

Sorry I mislead you. There are actually no pictures in this post. I am so bad at remembering to take my camera to...anything and everything. Tonight we had a little function where there would be a REAL fire truck and a fire fighter to talk to us about fire saftey and of course I forgot to bring my camera. Just picture Gordon looking adorable sitting on the seat under the massive stearing wheel or smiling while hanging on to the side. (Oh how cute is he?!) I thought Gordon would have been a bit more excited by the whole thing but he gets kind of shy in large groups and he kept thinking the fire engine was going to turn on its siren and he HATES loud noises. So he was a little hesitant to get too close while the fireman was letting all the kids touch his equipment. Afterwards though when he could just go up on his own and explore the fire truck, he loved it.

And on a side note. I attended a little girls night on Monday and it was so fun. I have been starving for a little girl time lately and I just feel so refreshed. So...I urge all of you to take some time for yourself and get together with some lady friends and just have FUN!

Soccer Anyone?

I use the word soccer very loosely here. When I use it involving three and four year olds, I don't really mean soccer. Its actually just running back and forth across the gym with the guidance of several parents, (excuse the blury photo) trampling eachother (it seems the same kids get trampled every time. Gordon got knocked over once and was a little scared to get back in the game but after awhile he couldn't help himself.) and of course getting a treat at the end! I think that was Gordon's favorite part of the whole game. He came running to me with the biggest smile on his face.

Guessing Game

People are always telling me that Edison looks so much like Gordon. I have a hard time seeing it. I just see Edison. I guess it is because Gordon doesn't really look like what he did when he was a baby. So can you tell who is who?
I want to hear your synopsis. Do you think they look alike?
P.S. Sorry for the greasy hair in the second picture, I don't know how that happened!?

Cooking and the Fall

I love cooking in the fall. I love soups and stews and all the smells and spices of fall. The other day I made some Tortellini Soup and I wanted to grab my camera and take a picture of the lovely vegetables as they were sauteing. This was the best picture I could find but it doesn't do it justice.I just love everything about fall. We live in the best place for this time of year. Trees everywhere! Chris and I love to go driving in the canyon and just absorb all the beautiful colors. I feel like I'm looking at a painting. God really is an amazing artist.
Okay, secondly. I have the hardest time trying to figure out what to make for lunch. Gordon gets on a kick where he eats the same thing everyday for a few weeks and then he switches to something else. Right now it is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Before that, spaghetti-os. But now he won't even touch spaghetti-os. Anyway so I was looking up some recipes that Gordon could make with me and I found this one on the Family Fun website. Gordon loved being able to cook his own lunch, plus it was something new (and nutritious) and super easy! What do you guys usually do for lunch?
And lastly, my friend wanted me to post a recipe of this yummy salad/dessert I made the other day so here it is:
Strawberry Preztel Salad
2 cups crushed pretzels (I like them in big chunks)
1/2 cup margarine
2 Tbsp sugar
1 (8 oz.) package of cream cheese
1 (8 oz.) package of Cool Whip
1 cup sugar
2 cups hot water
1 large package strawberry Jell-O
1 (20 oz.) package frozen stawberries (I used fresh strawberries - SO much better!)
Mix pretzels, margarine, sugar and press into 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Let cool. Beat cream cheese, Cool Whip and sugar utnil smooth and creamy. Place on cooled crust. Mix the hot water, jello, and strawberries, let chill slightly, and place on top of cream cheese layer. Chill until jello is set. Enjoy!

A Day in the Life of Edison

Edison is such a good sleeper. I read Babywise and tried to follow a routine and I think it has really helped. For anyone struggling to get a baby to sleep through the night--try this book. Anyway, it is so funny because we have tried really hard to not let our boys suck their thumbs (Chris was an avid thumb sucker until he was, I don't know eleven, sorry Chris.) So he was really adamant that we not let our children suck their thumbs. It worked with Gordon but then he was addicted to the pacifier. When we finally got him off the pacifier (this summer) he started sucking his fingers. What can I say, some kids just need that stimulation I guess. Anyway, I didn't want Edison to need a binki to go to bed because it is so annoying when they wake up and you have to go and put it back in. Well, despite all our efforts... Edison sucks his thumb. It is so cute because even when we swaddled him, he would squirm and wiggle just enough to get his little thumb in his mouth. Oh well, he'll still turn out fine. Look at Chris... nevermind.

Gordon loves to come and wake up Edison with me. I usually put him in the crib and we play around for a little while. He always asks to play Peek-a-Boo with him. Gordon really is a good big brother. He is so sweet and loves to play with him.

Here is a picture of Edison's first time eating rice cereal. What a mess. At first he didn't do very good at all. But now, he LOVES it. We have tried peas, which he liked, and green beans, which were just okay. And now on to squash. I love this picture because he cheeks are so chubby and he looks so funny.

Here is another shot of the kiddos playing together. This was a few months ago. Now Edison's favorite is his Exer-saucer. Well, I take that back. Lately all he wants is to be held. I have to remind myself not to get frustrated because this stage will not last very long. Soon he will be cruising around with no time for snuggles with mom.

And another one of the brothers in bed. I have to take the opportunity when they are both laying still and I can actually get a clear picture. And they even have matching pjs. Gordon loves to wear these. I just know they will be such good friends.
Well that is a day in the life of Edison. Sleep, eat, play. What a life!
